Meet Dr. Benjamin Bikman, author of Why We Get Sick. In this interview we talk about all things insulin resistance! Signs, symptoms, testing, how it’s linked to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, dementia, and more. Dr. Bikman shares information from his book on how to prevent and reverse insulin resistance for sustainable weight loss and disease prevention.

Insulin resistance is at ground zero for weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, and so much more. Dr. Bikman has his Ph.D. in Bioenergetics. As a professor at Brigham Young University and the director of its Diabetes Research Lab, Dr. Bikman studies insulin, including its role as a regulator of human metabolism, as well as insulin’s relevance in chronic disease.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Bikman actively serves as a research mentor to undergraduate and graduate students. He and his students frequently present and publish their findings. He lives with his wife and kids in Utah.
Chronic dieting will not work for sustainable weight loss. The only way to lose weight, keep it off, and prevent disease is to live a low insulin lifestyle. I know that may sound strange to you, but it's true.
